Ton of stuff
Aug. 30th, 2008 10:37 pmHoly hell, there's been a ton of stuff to deal with lately.
1. Work stress is gonna happen. The boss is managing it all pretty well, and I think it's going to be as minimal as humanly possible, but work stress is gonna happen. For the moment, not worried about it.
2. We have dining room chairs! Well, we will. Come Tuesday. I have this vague impression that they're not supposed to be something you pick after walking in and looking around for forty-five minutes, but hey--they're nice, they're solid, they're pretty, so we're good. Not gonna question being lucky.
3. The Carnivale Lune Bleue was amazing. I have pictures, and absolutely promise to get off my butt and post them.
4. Angel's... still demanding food, still purring, but slowing down a bit. Bracing myself, here.
5. There-is-no-five.
6. I'm liking Duma Key so far. It's got the same "widower[1] comes to strange little town" vibe as Bag of Bones, but seems to be more about uncovering the history of the outside rather than uncovering the past. Fine distinction, but yay.
7. How the hell did I not fall for Carnivale when I watched the first episode? I don't get it. I sat down to watch the second and was through to the fourth before I was falling asleep, and I rewatched the first anyway just to see if I could figure out why I didn't fall for it. Mad love for Jonesy and Lodz.
8. I was out looking for pictures of green cocktails and I found a recipe for something called a cukejito. I must try this now. (Also a bunch of Hallowe'en recipes, but they don't sound as good.)
9. Manchester University released 267 tapes found in Delia Derbyshire's attic after her death. You know her, right? Maybe heard the theme song she composed? It was for this nothing little British TV show, Doctor Who? Very nice stuff.

[1] Not necessarily a literal widower, but the fairly common horror novel protagonist who had a successful life until they were struck into outsider status by tragedy. You know how it goes.
