On outerwear

Oh god it comes in my size.

And I need a new winter coat.

That is *totally* not a suitable winter coat.

And I know it.

(Yes, I have been posting small rambles of late. It's been a high-stress kind of time; I think I'm just blowing off steam. Will doubtless taper off again in the next week.)

Damn, that's a gorgeous coat.

You could wear an extra layer underneath it to make up for the fact it isn't meant to be closed! And a long scarf! And- I'm sorry, I'll stop enabling.

It IS gorgeous, though.

...no, no, enable away. I am contemplating Schemes. I am sure there is a way to make this work.

Enable away? Then here's the bit I didn't add:

In all honesty, unless I'm walking into a wind and it's -20 or worse, I tend to wear my jacket unbuttoned.

A few points to consider: I have, shall we say, a well-padded torso; windy and/or -20 happens (too) often in Ottawa; my winter jacket was my winter jacket in Vancouver, so is more of a glorified sweater.

A second vote for a gloriously long scarf to wrap and drape around the neck. What about some sort of winter-wear vest to wear underneath the coat to make up for the unbuttoned-ness?
