Oh god it comes in my size.

And I need a new winter coat.

That is *totally* not a suitable winter coat.

And I know it.

(Yes, I have been posting small rambles of late. It's been a high-stress kind of time; I think I'm just blowing off steam. Will doubtless taper off again in the next week.)

They have my size too...*sighs*

(though I am mildly annoyed that they spelled the second colour "expresso")

....and where did you find that wonderful Spider Jerusalem icon?

On of the people posting on John's LJ, I think. I've seen it around a lot. It's a handy icon. Sadly, I cannot fit the "Give me information." splash page from earlier in the Transmetropolitan series into an icon.

I'll be honest, I didn't notice the spelling, but it *was* about 2:00 a.m. OTOH, I confess the colour "mulberry" immediately brought to mind the movie Mulberry Street (http://www.mulberrystreetmovie.com/), which I really do want to catch...

But, US only, and I'm making my own coat already anyway.

US only? *Damn...!* I'd missed that bit. Oh well. I know people who remail...

*sighs and gets practical*

Best wishes on making your own coat, by the way. I hope it turns out well.

[livejournal.com profile] icprncs likes to link to them, and I always browse the site, and realize that I can't buy from them. Piccies are interesting, they give me ideas.

I know. I think it might actually be possible to close it--there's hook-and-eyes up the front center. But it's pretty clearly not *meant* to be worn closed--it seems to basically be a shrug with pretentions, or a very very lovely way of keeping your arms and back a little warmer if it's only slightly chilly.

...still, that's not a *bad* thing...

I must stop looking at the Newport News site. Right now.

Er... I don't think that even qualifies as a winter coat... But it's pretty! :-D

*nods* Perhaps it would count down in the far southern reaches of the US or something. Here, I would freeze bits off.

...the pretty is scrambling my brain. Oh well. I will wait... perhaps there will be a sudden sale after Christmas, or something. Black versions are currently going on eBay for about $25-$20 plus variable amounts of shipping.

Damn, that's a gorgeous coat.

You could wear an extra layer underneath it to make up for the fact it isn't meant to be closed! And a long scarf! And- I'm sorry, I'll stop enabling.

It IS gorgeous, though.

...no, no, enable away. I am contemplating Schemes. I am sure there is a way to make this work.

Enable away? Then here's the bit I didn't add:

In all honesty, unless I'm walking into a wind and it's -20 or worse, I tend to wear my jacket unbuttoned.

A few points to consider: I have, shall we say, a well-padded torso; windy and/or -20 happens (too) often in Ottawa; my winter jacket was my winter jacket in Vancouver, so is more of a glorified sweater.

A second vote for a gloriously long scarf to wrap and drape around the neck. What about some sort of winter-wear vest to wear underneath the coat to make up for the unbuttoned-ness?

It may not be a winter coat, but it would automatically make you an airship pilot.

With a crew of drunken pilots
We're the only airship pirates!
We're full of hot air and starting to rise--
We're a terror to the skies
  but a danger to ourselves.
--uhm, yes. No more quoting Abney Park.

It is a very steampunk coat.
